The "Castaways" series bursts into a central theme for relatively recent Cuban art and, at the same time, it has a bearing on my own experience as a migrant. The castaway assumes the reality of all those detached from their land and who venture into new contexts. It is a warning of uprooting and, at the same time, the first glimpse of new possibilities to flourish. Here the shipwreck is a process, not an end.
