MAGEN- ZEITGENÖSSISCHE FOTOGRAFIE MATANCERA
Within the framework ofNoviembre Fotográfico in Kuba, "Magen. Contemporary Photography from Matanzas”emerges as an exhibition that serves as a pretext for reflection on the complex context experienced by Cubans living on the island since the late twentieth century.
Matanzas Fotografie – die weithin für ihren starken sozialen und dokumentarischen Charakter bekannt ist – hat im künstlerischen Kreis einen legitimen Raum gefunden, um ihre Anliegen und ihre kreative Vitalität auszudrücken. Bei dieser Gelegenheit, both emerging and established artists converge to establish a dialogue between past and present, wo verschiedene Realitäten, wenn auch durch die Zeit getrennt, offenbaren verblüffende Ähnlichkeiten.
A paradigmatic example of this continuity is the series“Convivencias” (1988) vonRamón Pacheco Salazar (Villa Clara, 1954), a symbolic radiography of Cuban identity that transcends provincial boundaries to express a profoundly national vision. In this body of work, Pacheco captures a web of human experiences that, far from disappearing, continue to resonate as a persistent echo of Cuba’s social and cultural evolution.
