Alberto “Chino” Arcos (la Habana * 1956) is a Cuban photographer with more than thirty years of experience in artistic and documentary practice. Throughout his career he has expanded his training through international studies, including a six-month scholarship in Madrid, España (1997) in Photography and Microfilming; a professional training course in Berlin, Alemania (1988); a program at the University of Salamanca, España, focused on photographic restoration and conservation (1997); and a six-month course in photojournalism in 1991.

Profesionalmente, he worked at the National Archives of Cuba as head of the Microfilming Laboratory and spent twelve years at the artistic screen-printing workshop “René Portocarrero.” Alongside his artistic production, he has maintained a sustained pedagogical practice, teaching artistic creation workshops at UNEAC for the past two decades. He has served as a juror in various photography competitions and is a member of UNEAC and the National Registry of Creators.

His artistic production includes more than twenty solo exhibitions over two decades of work in the visual arts, as well as participation in two editions of the Havana Biennial. He has presented seven solo exhibitions abroad — including in Vienna, Hamburg, Madrid, Ciudad de México, and Montevideo — and has taken part in more than thirty collective photography exhibitions. His works are held in private collections and have been acquired by galleries outside Cuba.
