Miseria contra el tiempo / Miseria contra tiempo
"Miseria contra el tiempo" is a work that explores the complex realities of life in Cuba through a photographic collage. This visual piece confronts the viewer with the duality of misery and time—two forces that shape the Cuban experience. Images of children, filled with hope and vulnerability, contrast with the faces of the elderly, who carry the weight of stories marked by resistance and disillusionment. This juxtaposition suggests that misery is a thread running through generations, challenging the linearity of time.
The piece also invites reflection on the role of the Cuban government, whose superficial stability conceals deep inequalities. The visible absence of misery does not always imply well-being for all. Además, American tourism introduces an element of disconnection, where images of leisure contrast with the everyday realities of residents. This contrast raises questions about privilege and the perception of the other.
"Miseria contra el tiempo" is an invitation to contemplate these interconnected dynamics and to imagine the stories hidden behind each image. A través de este trabajo, I seek to provoke reflection on the complexities of life in Cuba, leaving space for the viewer to explore the emotions that arise when confronting and questioning the reality presented.
