Artwork Statement

Putting yourself in another person's shoes means trying to understand the other person's situation, feelings, and perspectives. Doing so fosters greater understanding and connection. In this work, by stepping into my great-grandmother's shoes, I try to symbolically connect with her experiences emigrating from Spain at just 15 years old.
