Artwork Statement

Moving from geometric abstraction, I adopt patterns derived from sculptural objects—in this instance, hydraulic tiles. The work evokes a visual aesthetic closely resembling lightweight prefabricated construction—an architectural style characteristic of late-20th-century Cuba, widely adopted due to low production costs and pressing housing needs. It reflects the historical principles and challenges inherent to the contemporary Cuban context. Through a process of dimensional deconstruction, this exercise in associations emerges, transgressing the boundary between the abstract and the decorative.
