    Artwork Statement

    En jaque" (In Check) exposes the psychological state of an individual caught in tension with their physical and social environment. Through the hybridization of two everyday symbols—the egg carton and the chessboard—the artist constructs a symbolic battlefield where the struggle for daily life is waged.

    This artwork represents the grueling process of everyday survival, a reality in which the subject must constantly deploy mental strategies to navigate the obstacles imposed by their context. "En jaque" thus becomes a visual testament to vulnerability and exhaustion: a gridlocked scenario where the individual often finds themselves completely out of moves, stripped of pieces in the implacable game of subsistence.
