Rafael Aguilera Herrera – Colour Achromatic
Rafael Aguilera Herrera (RaH) proposes in his work a symbiosis between painting and photography, using the human body as the center of representation and support. The codes of each medium blur and enrich in RaH’s creations, who, through the photographic negative, gives the ephemeral nature of body paint another layer of concepts and artistic meanings. His pieces evoke an atmosphere as magical as the themes and motifs they reference, while still conveying reflections on art itself, spirituality, roots, and the existence of the human being.
In a recent exhibition, titled the same as this show – Acromatic in Color – curator Armando Vaillant comments on the artist’s work: “The basic language employed is photographic, but from an exploration of the artistic sign in representation, the manipulation of light scale, color, and the systemic as an artistic construct in itself. All of this is framed within a transdisciplinary concept of Art, one could glimpse my euphoric return to critical writing. For, hidden within these artistic constructs, there is a luminosity pulsating inside mixed, buried suns.”
