Lien Villavicencio Cabrera
Lien Villavicencio (Matanzas, Cuba, 2003) is a Cuban photographer, photojournalist, and visual storyteller. She graduated in Journalism from the School of Communication at the University of Havana and has been actively involved in photography for over three years. Her work has been published in leading Cuban media outlets such as Periodismo de Barrio, Periódico Girón, El Estornudo, and El Caimán Barbudo.
Villavicencio has participated in photography workshops and conferences on visual language and photojournalism, developing a documentary approach that combines narrative sensitivity with a focus on social realities. She is the author of Alrededor de una pelea (Around a Fight), a photographic essay exploring cockfighting in Carlos Rojas, Matanzas, Cuba, where she examines themes of cultural identity, ritual, and tradition. Recognized as one of the emerging voices in Cuban contemporary photography, she was selected for the Witness Photoworkshop Fellowship 2025.
