About Artist

(Ciego de Ávila * 1987) Cuban visual artist and photographer, currently a professor in the Department of Photography at the University of the Arts (ISA), Havana, since 2024. He studied at the Raúl Corrales Academy of Fine Arts in Ciego de Ávila (2002–2006) and later at the University of the Arts (ISA), Havana (2007–2012).

His work has been presented in several solo exhibitions, including Letters for Tomorrow (Galería Galiano, Havana, 2024, two-person exhibition with Sergio Marrero), Notes in the Wind (Galería Galiano, 2023), All In (Galería La Nave, 2022), Submerged Memory (Galería Seis seis, 2017), Pheromones (Fototeca de Cuba, 2015), and Capital (Faculty of Visual Arts, ISA, 11th Havana Biennial, 2012).

He has participated extensively in group exhibitions in Cuba and abroad, including shows at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (2024), the 15th and 14th Havana Biennials, Galería Habana, the Hispano-American Cultural Center, the Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic, Jenkins Johnson Gallery (San Francisco), Robert Mann Gallery (New York), as well as projects and festivals in Mexico, Italy, the United States, Argentina, and Spain.

His awards include the Estudio 21 Creation Grant from the Center for the Development of Visual Arts (2010 and 2022), Second Prize at Post-it 8 (2021), the El reino de este mundo Grant from AHS (2020), and the Raúl Corrales Photography Creation Grant from Fototeca de Cuba (2013).

He has also maintained active involvement in workshops and professional collaborations, including Photography as Process: A Necessary Distance (Fotocanímar, 2024), the Albumen Workshop at the San Gerónimo University College of Havana, and Habana Photo Camp organized by National Geographic (2016).
