Roger Toledo
He graduated in 2011 with a degree in Painting from the University of the Arts (ISA) in Havana, after completing his studies at the Vicentina de la Torre Academy of Arts (2005). Throughout his career, he has played a significant role in both art education and teaching. His experience includes important artist residencies, such as those at the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) in 2019, Studio 1606 in Minneapolis in 2015, and the Yaddo Artists’ Retreat in 2014. His participation in talks and presentations has been notable, such as his presentation on the context of contemporary Cuban art at UPENN in 2019. His work has been exhibited in renowned galleries and art spaces, both nationally and internationally, including solo and group exhibitions. He has also received awards at several art salons, such as those in Camagüey and New York, thus establishing himself as a prominent figure in the contemporary art scene. He currently lives and works between Havana, Cuba, and Mérida, Mexico, and is a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
