Artwork Statement

As the title suggests and from what can be distinguished in the work, it is a human figure performing a Japanese ritual form of suicide by disembowelment called Seppuku or harakiri.

The work evidences elements of Chinese culture. It is a visual exercise in which pre-established Asian concepts and icons stand out. The Cuban artist's interest in the asian culture comes from his Chinese ancestry, a fact perceptible in his second surname and physiognomic features.
