To See Is to Lose / Ver es perder

In this work, I sought to explore the concept of the latent image—the invisible effect of light acting upon a sensitive, undeveloped emulsion—as a metaphor for memories that have been withdrawn and suspended in time. Using personal objects from my childhood—modified to function as *camera obscuras*—the piece creates a tension between the material loss of the image and the persistence of memory. Each camera holds photographic paper that has captured, through light, images of places and people linked to my childhood; yet these images remain undeveloped, existing solely as a possibility. These latent images function as invisible archives. The work reflects on how emptiness, waiting, and the inability to see sustain the experience of remembering. It embraces absence as a material in itself; here, photography bears witness not to what once was, but to what is missing.
