Transition explores Afro-textured hair in Black women as a territory of identity, resistance, and self-affirmation.

The portrait shifts from the face to the hair: profile is no longer defined by facial expression, but by the way hair is constructed, transformed, and displayed.

Braiding, parting, knotting, or tying it up are not merely aesthetic gestures, but acts that shape identity in motion.

The work questions traditional mechanisms of representation: which part of the body is recognized as identity, and which part has historically been corrected or normalized?

Here, identity is not fixed; it is process, transformation, and affirmation.
