Juan José Ricardo Peña (Jota)
Juan José Ricardo Peña, known artistically as Jota (Havana, 1999), is a Cuban visual artist specializing in bronze casting, sculpture, and 3D design and printing. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts and is part of a new generation of Cuban artists who merge traditional sculptural techniques with digital innovation.
Jota works extensively with bronze foundry, creating sculptural pieces that highlight materiality, form, and contemporary artistic expression. His work explores the relationship between physical space, volume, and the symbolic dimension of objects, often engaging with themes of identity, transformation, and cultural memory.
He is also a Sculpture Professor at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, where he contributes to the formation of young artists by integrating classical sculptural training with emerging technologies in digital fabrication and visual experimentation.
In addition to his work in bronze, Jota is actively involved in 3D design and printing, developing projects that bridge craftsmanship with digital aesthetics. His artistic practice reflects a hybrid approach that connects traditional sculptural heritage with the possibilities of contemporary design, modeling, and technological creation.
Based in Havana, he continues to explore the boundaries between art, craft, and technology, positioning himself at the forefront of modern sculptural practice in Cuba.
