Sublime Object / El sublime objeto
FROM THE SERIES: Sublime Object
Purchase Inquiry
The work takes as reference the everyday object of the grater, also known as guayo. The gesture of bending and piercing the metal surface is replicated to create a worn, abrasive texture. Through this process, the artist constructs an image composed of small perforations and subtle embossed volumes, using materiality as both drawing and language.
This representation becomes a reflection of anguish, frustration, and degradation — emotions triggered by certain symbols and images when charged with political or ideological function. Each strike, each perforation, acts as a symbolic echo, imprinting meaning onto the surface through the very tools used by the artist.
The work transforms pain into form, wear into expression, and the ordinary object into a metaphor for the psychological impact of imposed narratives.
