Aluan Argüelles
Aluan Argüelles (Havana, 1982) graduated from the Universidad de las Artes (ISA), Havana (2008). Studied at the Royal University College of Fine Arts, Sweden (2007). Graduated from the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts (2002). His solo exhibitions include Dead Weight, Acacia Gallery, Havana (2024); Aesterum, Center for the Development of Visual Arts, Havana (2022); Loop, Alejandro Otero Museum, Caracas, Venezuela (2018); Black box, Artis718 Gallery, Havana (2017). Some of the recent group exhibitions in which he has participated are: HB, Servando Gallery, Havana (2023); 9th Contemporary Art Salon, Center for the Development of Visual Arts, Havana (2023); History/Stories, Acacia Gallery, Havana (2023); Connected Nodes. He has been recognized with the Rita Longa Creation Grant, Havana (2015); Juan Francisco Elso Creation Grant, Havana (2014) and artist residencies Vermont Studio Center, Vermont(2009); Museo Internazionale Dinamico di Arte Contemporanea, Italy (2011). He has received the Distinction for National Culture, Ministry of Culture of Cuba, Havana (2022). His work is part of public collections such as: National Council of Plastic Arts, Havana; Ten North Group, Florida, USA; as well as private collections in the United States, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, France, among others.
