David López Cruz
David López Cruz (Matanzas, Cuba, 1999) holds a BA in Foreign Language Education (English) and is a photographer with a sustained presence in the Cuban and Latin American exhibition scene. He collaborated with the newspaper Girónbetween 2019 and 2022 and, since 2017, has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions and juried salons, including the Provincial Salons of Amateur Artists organized by ACAA, the Roberto Diago Querol Provincial Salon, the Alfredo Sarabia in memoriam Photography Biennial, the Caribbean International Salon, and the FotoCanímar International Festival and Colloquium.
His work has been exhibited in Cuba, Colombia, Spain, and Mexico. Recent highlights include the two-person exhibition Albor (2023–2024), presented in Madrid and Lanzarote, as well as his participation in central exhibitions of Noviembre Fotográfico and projects linked to contemporary photography from Matanzas.
Throughout his career, he has received significant recognition, including awards and honorable mentions in national and international photography and visual arts competitions. Notable distinctions include first prize at the Latin American Documentary Photography Contest Los trabajos y los días (2022), first prize and the AHS Award at the IX Provincial Salon of Amateur Artists (2020), as well as awards granted by UNICEF and FAO in 2025. He has also been a finalist and selected participant in competitions and portfolio reviews in Cuba, Spain, and Latin America. His work forms part of relevant publications and curatorial projects, consolidating a practice deeply engaged with documentary photography, memory, and a contemporary gaze on everyday life.
