Edel Fonseca (Camagüey, *2004) is a visual artist from Camagüey, graduated from the Vicentina de la Torre Academy of Arts in 2023. His professional career began from his first years at the art school in 2019, presenting works at the XI small format Biennial sponsored for the eJo project, winning the academy collateral prize with one of his works. He continued to show his work at school events such as the Student Hall in its XX, XXI and XXIII editions, winning first prize along with other collateral decorations in the last two editions, he was also present in group exhibitions such as Appeals from the Collateral Vanguard to XXXII City Hall and in The memory of time in 2022. The year 2023 boosts his career by making his first personal exhibition. I am urged to return outside the collateral academic roof to the XXXIII City Hall, in turn participating in the central hall of the event with the work Descensión, obtaining the first prize and collateral awards such as that of the Provincial Council of the Plastic Arts, the Caguayo Foundation and the mention of the Hermanos Saiz Association, thus consolidating the origin of the series What is really necessary for which it has been recognized in its province. Between the conceptual and morphological evolution of the series supported by the preparation of his graduation thesis of the same name, he inaugurated the personal exhibition Today in this place in the Julio Enrique gallery of the eJo project in Camagüey, it was reopened collaterally after the X Salón Gestos from the AHS, also showing the work on Sístoles, winner of the first prize, two collaterals and a mention. 2023 ended by presenting me at the XXXIII Fidelio Ponce, obtaining a mention. He breaks the Camagüeyan border by presenting the work Face to Face at the II Rene Valdés Contemporary Art Salon in Santiago de Cuba, obtaining mention and collateral awards from the Young Art Fund and ArteMorfosis–Cuban Art Platform.
