Leidy Castellanos Moreno
Leidy Castellanos (Matanzas, Cuba, 1990) is a Cuban photographer and visual artist whose work explores the intersections between identity, memory, and everyday life through contemporary photographic language. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Communication from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Matanzas(2015) and graduated as an Art Instructor in Visual Arts in 2009.
Castellanos has expanded her practice through advanced training in authorial and documentary photography. She participated in the Author Photography Workshop “El acto de extrañar”, taught by Mexican photographer and editor Mayra Martell at the Fototeca de Cuba in Havana; the Photography Workshop “Entre lo común y lo personal. Cartografiando”, led by Dr. Carma Casula, Spanish visual artist, photographer, and university professor, held in Matanzas during the first edition of the Fotocanímar Festival (2024); and the Witness Documentary Photography Workshop, third edition (2024), at the Raúl Corrales Gallery in Havana, Cuba.
Her work has been included in several collective exhibitions, such as Femme Fatale at Habana Espacios Creativos(Proyecto Women’s Society); the XXVIII Provincial Salon of Visual Arts Roberto Diago Querol; the XXVI Provincial Salon of Visual Arts Conrado Massaguer (2025); and the Provincial Winter Salon 2025 at the ACAA branch in Matanzas. Internationally, she participated in the First International Collective Exhibition “Narrativas de luz y ausencias” at Galería Andrómeda 3.20 (Mexico). She also took part in the collective exhibition “Alienaciones del Límite”, organized by the Women’s Society Project as part of the 15th Havana Biennial, held at Espacio Híbrido, headquarters of the ONDI.
