Liudmila Velasco
She was born in Moscow in 1969. He came to live in Cuba at the age of 7. Currently works and lives in Havana. Self-taught. For more than 20 years she has been a member of the artist duo Liudmila & Nelson, making important exhibitions dealing with themes related to migration, of social and political character, such as Absolut Revolution, Hotel Habana, Proyecto 384, La Gran Ola, Posible Emigrante, among others. At the same time, she has developed her work as an artist focusing on themes related to femininity, maternity, the relationship with nature, in an intimate and self-referential way, such as El Viaje, Fantasmagoria, Mi autorretrato y yo, Cuerpo, Metamorfosis, Déjà vu, among others. His work forms part of important art collections. He has participated in numerous exhibitions inside and outside the island, including the Havana and Venice Biennials. Photography, video and installation are the resources mostly used in his work.
