About Artist

Mayra Palacio Otero (Matanzas, Cuba, 2004) is a Cuban visual artist and a graduate of the Roberto Diago Querol Professional Academy of Visual Arts (EPAP) in 2025. Her work explores the expressive and conceptual possibilities of contemporary Cuban art, reflecting on themes of identity, emotion, and the visual representation of collective experience.

She has participated in several collective exhibitions in Matanzas and other Cuban cities, including Unannounced. Contemporary Art Exhibition (Pedro Esquerré Gallery, Matanzas, Cuba); Interludio. Graduate Salon of EPAP (Pedro Esquerré Gallery, Matanzas, 2025); Vacilaciones y Visiones, exhibition dedicated to the International Youth Day (Carilda Oliver Labra Gallery, Meliã Varadero, Matanzas, Cuba); Anhelo y Aflicción (Hotel Islazul, Varadero, Matanzas, Cuba); Convergencias (Bar Artys Gallery, Matanzas, Cuba); El Principio del Fin (EPAP Gallery, Matanzas, Cuba); Compendio(Génesis Gallery, Matanzas, Cuba); Miradas Intermitentes (EPAP Gallery, Matanzas, 2024); Huellas de Identidad (UPA Gallery, Matanzas, Cuba); Caminos de Identidad (Conrado Massaguer Gallery, Cárdenas, Matanzas, Cuba); Melofonía, as part of the Clarinet Festival (Sala White, Matanzas, Cuba); and the José Ramón Fundora Visual Arts Salon (Esteban Chartrand Gallery, UNEAC Social House, Matanzas, 2023).

Palacios represents a new generation of emerging Cuban artists whose visual language bridges sensitivity, experimentation, and a strong connection to the cultural and social identity of Matanzas.
