Nadia Díaz – Multidisciplinary Cuban Artist Exploring Memory, Femininity, and Power
Nadia Díaz is a multidisciplinary Cuban artist and graduate of Sculpture from the prestigious San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in Havana. Her work delves into memory, femininity, and power dynamics through a symbolic visual language that intertwines the personal and the collective. Influenced by textile knowledge passed down from her mother and a childhood spent in military environments, Díaz’s art reflects on authority, tradition, insularity, life cycles, and the relationship between humans and nature.
Her creative practice seamlessly blends traditional and contemporary techniques, using a wide range of mediums such as embroidery, weaving, ceramics, printmaking, basketry, sculpture, installation, photography, video art, digital art, astrology, and tarot. Central to her process is the idea of artistic creation as a path of personal and symbolic transformation.
Among her solo exhibitions are Línea de la vida (Hispanic-American Center of Culture, 2022–2023) and Viaje a la tierra del hermano venado (Casa de las Américas, 2019–2020). She has participated in group shows across Cuba, Spain, the United States, China, Colombia, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Notable appearances include digital art and NFT events such as Lo que menos sufrimiento genere (Factoría Habana, 2025), the XI MIFA Miami International Biennial of Textile Art (2025), the Art Exchange Festival AEF in Madrid (2024), and Atravesar el Caribe a la sombra de una Ceiba at the Wilfredo Lam Center (2024).
Her work is part of private collections in Madrid, Switzerland, Miami, Toronto, and the UK, as well as among digital art collectors worldwide.
