Artwork Statement
Ablation: Removal of a body organ or tissue.
The work consists of a set of scratchboards that represent my body and vital organs, each one with the name of a city and country where very important people in my life who are today outside of Cuba reside. I am interested in expressing the pain and fragmentation we feel when losing a part of ourselves with each person who leaves our reality, our context, our life.
The assembly of the work also geographically simulates the countries referred to.
