    Artwork Statement

    The work reflects on the colonization and hierarchization of Western culture in the spirituality of primitive cultures. In this case, it takes as a reference the devaluation of African art and exposes the antagonism promoted by hegemonic societies between the conceptions of art and craftsmanship. The action of the piece converts a traditional and ritual icon into a popular decorative image of marked visual appeal -polychromed with the dripping technique- with the aim of making it easily marketable, illustrating the industrial character and the spiritual lack promoted by today's symbolic market. The title of the work refers to the numbering used by collectors to catalog exotic objects.
