Damián Pozo – Exploring alternative imaginaries

Damián Pozo reflects on humanity and its system of thought to offer an artistic proposal that addresses some of the concerns of the contemporary individual. This reflection encompasses not only individuals as isolated beings with their own micro-narratives but also as subjects conditioned by the norms and canons of society.

The visuality of this young artist’s pieces draws on aesthetic resources from comics, Japanese culture, graffiti, urban art, and even African masks. Despite exploring alternate imaginaries—as the title of this exhibition suggests—ranging from ronin (masterless samurai) to superhero-like characters, this hybridization in the formal composition achieves a balance in the work, transforming it into a source of aesthetic pleasure and a means of introspection.
