DISCOMFORT IN CULTURE arises from the following question: Are the people we give the authority to decide what is good and what is not really the ones with the knowledge to do so? It reflects the pain of being valued—or invalidated—by others. The piece and its symbolic charge confront this imbalance, and what it ultimately suggests is a great emptiness in what is represented. We are surrounded by thinkers, people who address political issues (perhaps in an "ingenious" way) but do not find true pleasure; therefore, they misdiagnose.
