    Artwork Statement

The Bandit King represents a figure of power under constant threat, a leader who must protect himself both from his enemies and those who swore loyalty to him. Wearing a mask that evokes an outlaw, the king questions the legitimacy of his position: is he a rightful sovereign or an usurper on the fringes of the law? The swords surrounding him are a metaphor for the tensions and betrayals inherent to power, while his partially concealed face reflects the duality between authority and vulnerability. This oil painting is a portrait of the isolation that accompanies those who dare to lead.
