Woman who knits / Mujer que se teje
This image is the fourth and final photograph in a series taken in 2022 and symbolizes a self-exploration of female identity and resilience. The woman, in the act of weaving, alludes to the construction of the individual universe, representing personal creation where each thread reflects aspects of her being, the experiences and relationships that have shaped her life. This process becomes a means to gradually understand and accept her own story.
The superposition of the poses indicates that identity is dynamic and evolving, and that self-discovery is a constantly changing journey where the ability to adapt and flow is essential to finding beauty in this transformation. She not only weaves herself, but also embraces her multiple facets, breaks with what is imposed, traveling deeper, and heals, recognizing both her fragility and her strength, using it to her advantage.
The work is a reflection of a personal narrative, of the intimate experience that resides at its core and gives it strength and meaning, through an atmosphere that adds a sense of nostalgia, suggesting that the past influences our present. The piece celebrates individuality and the power to redefine our own history, inviting us to look inward, observing the fears, complexes, taboos, dogmas, and structures that shape us and are part of our lives, as well as what shines as our primary nature. It is a reflection on the process of recognition and empowerment.
