With The Watchers of the Day, I aim to rescue and celebrate the legends of Cuban rural folklore—a cultural treasure passed down from generation to generation. Through vibrant colors and evocative forms, I seek to bring to life the stories of our ancestors: tales that speak of the deep bond between humans and the land, and of the everyday magic that surrounds us.

Each figure and symbol in this piece is a tribute to popular wisdom and to the myths that shape our identity and resilience. I hope that, upon viewing this work, the spectator feels the warmth of our roots and the enduring strength of a legacy still alive in the heart of the Cuban mountains.
