PRISMA 9 – Morfosis

Morfosis is not merely a poster exhibition; it is a celebration of Cuban graphic design and its ability to articulate visual discourses with conceptual depth and striking aesthetics. Showcasing the finalist works of the Prisma 9 competition, the exhibition marks the tenth anniversary of ArteMorfosis, a platform committed to establishing a dynamic space for contemporary Cuban art. Transformation and evolution—the central themes of the competition—become metaphors for an art that flows naturally, without losing its roots or its innovative spirit.
The finalist designers—Dayron Giro, Dave Perurena, Edson Rabí, and Elizabeth Valenciaga—have succeeded in capturing a personal vision of transformation in their posters, transcending the communicative function of design to explore more symbolic and reflective dimensions. Their works stand out for the clarity of their visual language and the imagination with which they approach the theme, showcasing the poster not just as a graphic tool, but as a vehicle for ideas and emotions.
The selection is enriched by the contributions of three guest artists: Claudio Sotolongo and Yonlay Cabrera in collaboration, and Alex Martínez Fresneda. Their inclusion adds a broader range of perspectives and reinforces how Cuban graphic design continues to engage in a vibrant dialogue between experimentation and tradition.
As a complement, the exhibition also features a collection of catalogues from past exhibitions organized by ArteMorfosis over the years—an eloquent testimony to the platform’s curatorial work and its commitment to key figures in contemporary Cuban art. This documentation allows the public to appreciate the consistency and evolution of the visual discourse the platform has championed.
This project also pays tribute to the close collaboration of two renowned Cuban designers: Laura Llópiz and Pepe Menéndez, both exemplars of excellence in graphic art.
Morfosis is ultimately a tribute to Cuban design and its remarkable capacity for adaptation and innovation within the artistic context. The exhibition not only affirms the creative strength of Cuban poster art on the international stage but also highlights ArteMorfosis’ enduring commitment to a graphic movement that continues to evolve, transform, and enrich Cuban art.
