Regarding: Yonlay Cabrera - Mx. Hite, Nikki Bungaku

    Artwork Statement

In the series Mx. Hite, Nikki Bungaku, the heteronym Mx. Hite is developed as a thematic pretext for exploring concepts such as identity and existence. The work draws on the tradition of nikki bungaku, or poetic diary writing. It constructs possible universes in which the character might inhabit a cyclical time inspired by Buddhist philosophy. The audiovisual materials that make up the work were shared daily between 2022 and 2024 through the artist’s Instagram account (@yonlaycabrera). The final result includes a generative animation, eight PVC prints, and digital prints organized in two A4 files.
